Under the Data Protection Act 1998 CTI has a legal duty to protect any personal information it collects from you.

For the purposes of the DPA 1998, the data controller is CTI, of 7th Floor, 111 Piccadilly, Manchester, M1 2HY.

This privacy policy explains how CTI uses the information it collects about you and procedures that CTI has in place to safeguard your privacy.

We own and operate a number of websites including but not limited to www.cti.co.uk and www.ctimarine.com (the “Websites”). This privacy policy applies to information obtained through the Websites and any other website owned and operated by us from time to time, in addition to the information provided to our consultants employed at our offices.

The personal information we collect and how we use it

CTI does not capture and store any personal information provided to us except as provided in this policy.

Personal information may be given to CTI in a variety of circumstances in order to effectively manage your needs. Such information may be provided under the following circumstances:-

  • you make a reservation, enquiry or purchase of something from the Websites or through the customer service team in our offices in person, by email, letter, fax, telephone or electronic form;
  • you consent and take part in a survey or provide us with feedback;
  • you subscribe to our newsletter and travel updates;
  • you enter one of our competitions.

If you subscribe to one of the above services or submit an email to us, then your email address and/or other personal data may be kept by us and used for marketing purposes, in addition to being used to fulfill your travel requirements.

If you contact us via any other means, then we may keep a record of that correspondence. We may also keep a record comprising the details of transactions you carry out and the fulfillment of your orders.

Any marketing materials which we send to you will be sent to you either in electronic form or through the post. Should you wish to remove your details from our email marketing list then you will need to follow the instructions at the bottom of our marketing email. Should you wish to opt-out of any marketing we send through the post, then please contact us via post, telephone or email and we shall remove your details from our hard copy marketing list.

If an individual supplies payment details to us in order to facilitate the travel booking, then this information will be stored using a secure database and only used for payment and accounting purposes.

Statistical data

CTI may also use aggregate information and statistics for the purposes of monitoring Websites’ usage in order to help us develop the Websites and our services and may provide such aggregate information to third parties. These statistics will not include information that can be used to identify any individual.

Disclosure

CTI will only hold your information for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Save as stated below, personal information is not disclosed to third parties unless this is indicated by our consultants, or is indicated on the Websites and/or the relevant form at the point of collecting the information or as required or allowed by law.

Your personal information may be passed to a third party in order to fulfill your travel requirements. This may necessarily include passing your details outside of the UK, and you agree to this transfer, storing or processing by submitting your request to us. We will take all steps necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 736 of the UK Companies Act 1985.

We may disclose your personal information to third parties:

  • In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
  • If CTI or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets.

 Use of cookies

CTI uses cookies on its Websites. A cookie is a text file that identifies your computer to CTI’s server. Cookies in themselves do not identify the individual user, just the computer used.

Cookies are not used to collect any personal information.

You have the opportunity to set your computer to accept all cookies, to notify you when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at any time. The way in which you do this depends upon the web browser which you use. Please refer to the “Help” function for your browser. How we protect your information

All the personal information collected is recorded in a secure database. Any payment transaction details will be encrypted within our database, all aspects of which comply with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards.

All CTI’s employees and data processors, who have access to or are associated with the processing of personal information, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of that information. Access to our database is secured by password and is encrypted using DES.

CTI ensures that your personal data will not be disclosed to government institutions and authorities except if required or allowed by law.

Email security

Please note that unless encrypted, email messages sent via the internet may not be secure and could be intercepted and read by someone else. Please bear this in mind when deciding whether to include personal or sensitive information in any email messages you intend to send.

Your consent

By submitting your information you consent to the use of that information as set out in this policy. If CTI changes this privacy policy it will post the changes on this page. Continued use of the service will signify that you agree to any such changes.

Users 16 and under

If you are aged 16 or under, please get your parent/guardian’s permission before hand whenever you provide personal information to CTI’s Websites or consultants. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.

Our Websites may, from time to time, contain links to and from other websites including those of our suppliers. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you can request a copy of your information. CTI will provide you with a legible copy of the personal information it holds and to which you are entitled. This will be sent to you within 40 days of your request- although CTI almost always requires proof of your identity before supplying the information (in order to mitigate the risk of supplying information to the wrong person) and may ask you for further information to assist in locating your personal information. You may have to pay a small charge before the information is supplied.
